Solid team play broke down the Toronto defense and Røkkr won the map.Ī map highlight was the consistency shown by all four players. In Round 4, Røkkr quickly claimed the A point, giving them 2:19 to take B. The teams traded the next two rounds to bring the score to 2-1 with Accuracy’s multikill effort late in round 3 putting Røkkr in position to close it out. A late push by Toronto was thwarted by Attach and Priestahh, including the final three kills by Priestahh to close it out. Opening on defense in the first round, Røkkr quickly gave up the B point to Ultra, but held strong on the A point, consistently controlling the pace of play. Røkkr’s strongest play of the night came in Map 3 Control on Raid. MajorManiak’s four first bloods positioned Røkkr for the come back win and Attach complimented his clutch moments with a strong 10/5 score line. Attach and Accuracy battled back, ultimately earning a gritty map win when Attach clutched a 1v1 vs. In the deciding round 11, Røkkr found themselves in a 2v4 situation. MajorManiak had three straight kills in a pivotal round 8 to tie it up at 4-4. Røkkr spotted Ultra a 4-1 round advantage before coming to life and methodically chipping away at the lead. Methodz dominated for Ultra going 31/23 with 1:34 hill time.Ĭlutch was the theme of Map 2. Just as Røkkr fought back to nearly tie the game, at 189-191 Cammy controlled a key lane and wracked up 5 straight kills, giving his teammates breathing room before Toronto held off the last push from Minnesota as time expired. Toronto had a strong second and third hardpoint and despite the back and forth consistently held a lead in the 20 point range throughout. Momentum was hard to come by in the opener, contributing to the rare occurrence of the map ending due to the time limit rather than a team reaching the 250-point threshold. The 3-2 Ultra victory sends Røkkr home with no points and no prize money from the first of five regular season CDL Majors. The latest Battle of the North between Minnesota Røkkr and Toronto Ultra brought higher stakes than the three previous rivalry matchups with the winner advancing to the final 8 in the first Major event of the 2021 Call of Duty League season.Ī tight matchup eventually broke in Ultra’s favor with a dominating Map 5 Search and Destroy.
